Howdy Again!

I forgot to list some of the items still in the Alpine Cabin.  Diane will also do an inventory on the items still in the "Doghouse" in St. Johns and get that out to  you after Christmas.

I want to take a moment here and remind everyone that the items that Diane and I are listing are for the 7 immediate children of Harbon and Vera ONLY.  If, at the end of this process, we still have items that none of the "Magnificent Seven" want, then at that time, we may decide to open them up for the grandkids to look at.  But for now - please do not request any item if you are thinking that it might be nice for one of your kids to have - thank you.

OK, back to business.  First, a correction from my earlier post (thank you Diane) is that the black frying pan was aptly named "Hell-A-Mighty" and not "Damn-It" . . . although the latter might have been its "nickname" . . . .  my mistake!

I also want to thank those of you who have sent in information on the origin and/or memories of some of the items I had posted for which I had no memory of.  Thank you "bery-moochie".

New items to think about (these I have no photos for, but any of you who have been to the Alpine place often will be able to "picture them in your mind") and for those of you who cannot picture them . . . you must not have visited that place often enough . . . so you won't need to worry about wanting any of it anyway!! haha.  Just kidding . . . just let me know if you have a "hankering" for any of these "treasures"!! haha.  Here's the new list:

LIVING ROOM ITEMS

1)  Sectional Couch - covered on one end with lots of white hair (from where Dad, Mom and Valene always sat), but I am sure it could be cleaned?  I tried vacuuming out the hair but it is too imbedded.  Tried pulling it out with my fingers, but much of it breaks off and then starts working its way out again later.  Don't know if the professional vac will suck it out or not (doubtful).

2) Matching Recliner Chair to Couch - this is the one Dad sat in all the time so it's growing its own "head of hair" as well!! haha . . . (a living organism!!!!!!)  If anyone would like to take it and plant it in your garden . . . maybe you could start growing hair for the National Institute of Hair Restoration???  Lyle??? haha.

3) Rust Colored Recliner - this is the one Mom sat in a lot up at Alpine.  Does not have the major "hair-do" that the other two pieces do, so it could be cleaned up quite good I think.

4) Oak coffee table and 2 Oak end tables (matching) - these are in excellent condition. Over the years, every time Irene and I have put that "orange" polish on them they came out looking like new!

5) End table Lamps (2) - these are the ones with the brass base and cream colored lamp shades.

6) Old Stereo Unit (maybe 20 years old now?) - it wasn't working when I plugged it in while we stayed there during the week of Dad's funeral.  I took apart the back of the main unit and re-soldered a wire into place, so it works now.  I enjoyed listening to John Denver and some of Dad's other CD's while I looked through all his financial papers a few weeks back.  One of the large speakers does now work - I didn't have time to look at that to see what's wrong, but I will.

KITCHEN/LAUNDRY ROOM ITEMS

1) Oak Kitchen Table w/ 8 chairs - again, this is in good condition and shines up nicely with orange polish.  Do not believe that the 2nd leaf, to stretch it out for 8 chairs, is available.  We could not locate it.

2) Washer and Dryer (antiques) - although old, these two are still operational.  The washer has kept running over the years thanks to yours truly.  Seems like every time Irene and I went to visit the past few years, Valene asked me to fix the washer, so I know it is operational as of current - we used it a few weeks back.

3) Broom and Dust Pan - I think the dustpan is the same copper-colored one Mom had in St. Johns . . . I know one of you girls could use that . . . couldn't you?? haha.  Actually, I think Irene took the copper dustpan and turned it into a floral decoration - she hung it on the wall next to the door that exits to the garage from the kitchen - turned out real nice.

OFFICE ITEMS

1) Dad's office desk - don't know when he bought this, but its been in Alpine the entire time, as far as I know.  Has an old metal chair on rollers with a green vinyl covered seat that goes with it.

2) Grey File Cabinet - this is an oldy and holds a lot of his genealogy stuff right now.

3) Small foldable Table - he always sat his Electric Typewriter on this little table.

4) Safe Box - measures about 18 x 18 inches.  Not huge, but it holds some of his silver coins he has collected over the years and some of his documents.  We do have the combination for it.  Weighs a ton and the coins & docs DO NOT go with it. . . .thank you very much!

5) VHS Tape Storage Boxes (2) - these come complete with church missionary tapes and other "stuff" in them.  Grab 'em quick!!!

6) Computer with Printer - this I will claim.  We purchased this computer and printer for Dad and it holds all his genealogy and poem information, so we'll hang onto it for now.  After we've extracted all the information, anyone is welcome to take it.  It is older, so it won't work with many of the new programs, but it does have an older version of OFFICE on it.  So, keep this in mind. . . .

7) Books, Books, Books, Books, Books and did I mention Books?? ha.  I have only had two requests for the 1,000 plus books Dad has on those shelves!!!  If any of you would like to come look at these just contact me before Christmas, since we'll be up there at that time.  We keep them where they sit until next Christmas (2009) and then we'll box them and stick them in the attic up there.

8) 2 Drawer Oak Filing Cabinet - good condition.  Currently holds much of his poem related stuff.

9) Walking Cane - don't know where Dad got it.  It's made of wood - looks pretty cool.  Brian, for some reason you popped into my mind!! haha.

10) Lamp - this one has the wood base to it and it looks like it belongs in a home in the woods.

MASTER BEDROOM

1) King Sized Bed w/ headboard

2) Particle Board/Veneer night stand - nothing special, but it's there!

3) 2 Lamps - their beauty was so incredible that their appearance escapes me!!

UPSTAIRS BEDROOM (Above Master Bedroom - where balcony is)

1) Queen Bed w/headboard

2) Double Rocker/Glider - this is the one with the dark brown material on it.  Made of Oak and rarely used.  Perfect condition.

3) Two Drawer Chest of Drawers - again, nothing special, but it's there.

4) Round Mirror - this hangs above the little chest of drawers.

5) Small Lamp Table

USTAIRS BEDROOM (Large One)

1) Two Queen Beds (one w/headboard) - mattresses on these beds are not very good.  If you're looking for something for long-term use, I think I would suggest getting something new, but if you are just needing a temporary bed - these would do.  At all of our ages, we should be sleeping on something much better than these pieces of  . . . . . anyway. . . 

2) Small Lamp Table

3) Lamp - this is the one with the 2 white light covers.  I think this may be a light Mom had in either the girls big bedroom in St. Johns or in the TV room (garage as we called it).  Don't remember exactly where it was 'cause my memory is coated in Cobwebs!!!

4) Half Wagon Wheel coffee table - this is the one from St. Johns home.  Refinished in antique "whatever" color (light brown/tan).   Still in great shape.

5) 4 Drawer Chest of Drawers - this is a modern one that Mom bought for the Alpine place.  No memories attached to it.

6) White 2 Tray Metal Cart?? - it sits under the light switch in this bedroom.  Holds some books and junk.

7) 2 A-1 Realty Office Chairs (a true treasure . . . haha. . . .one black vinyl and one papaya colored vinyl).  These came from Dad's old office if anyone needs one.

GARAGE

1) Old desk - not is good shape, kind of nasty actually.  Would help keep a campfire going for an hour or so!! ha.

2) Miscellaneous Tools - Dad has a lot of crap on that old workbench and the two peg-boards on each side of it guys!!!  Don't you all rush up there and overwhelm that poor garage!! haha.

STORAGE SHED 

(Sorry Bob - this is not available for your St. Johns lot . . . to replace the Yurt you've been wanting to put up!! haha.)

1) Weed Whacker Machine - Dad used it to cut the grass there at the Alpine place.

2) Propane Grill - we know this works because we replaced the propane regulator on it last year.  Not the biggest grill out there, but it's functioning.

3) Camp Pads/Old Camp Tables/Old Church Metal Chairs/Wheelbarrow?/2 or more old suitcases - not the real real old ones, but older style that he and Mom used?

CELLAR

1) 50 year old SAFEGAURD soap - get it quick cause I'm certain this stuff will go LIGHTNIN" FAST!!! ha.

2) Miscellaneous Food Supplies and Paper Goods

3) 117 Daddy Long Legs Spiders - must be taken as a set!!

YARD

1)  Trees . . . . oh wait, sorry, those stay with the cabin!! ha.

2) Trampoline - this is also in good shape, I know, because we replaced the jump pad on it last year as well.  Not the heavy metal tramp like they sell at Dana Playground - I think this is the Sams Club variety.

3) Porch Glider Swing Bench - wood slats need to be revarnished, but still useable.

4) Plastic Table w/2-4 Plastic Chairs - this sits on the back porch as well.  Can't remember what shape it is in.

5) 3 Skunks - these treasures live under the storage shed Bob . . . so if you have to have that shed you must take the skunks with it!!! haha . . . . why do I enjoy teasing you so much "Snakebait"?

Well, that's all this old fart can remember.  If any of you remember something I have not listed please let me know and we'll get it posted.  Peggy has already mentioned an item or two that I had forgotten of hers (thanks).  

Any of the furniture you guys do not want we will gladly keep it right where it sits.  We will be at the Alpine home right after Christmas for one week, if any of you would like to pick up the items at that time, otherwise, you will have to wait until we're up there again in the summer (and of course, storage fees and dues will have accrued by that time . . . so please bring money to "get out of hock" that which you have requested . . . . cash only please!).   

I need to hear back from everyone on all these items no later than December 25th or you will be taken out of any "lotteries" on items if there are any of those, plus the treasure(s) you wanted may have been assigned to someone else by then.  I know this is TOP PRIORITY for all you guys. . . .so get right on it OK???!!!! haha.

HARBON B HEAP ESTATE TRUST - MEMORABILIA

Here we are . . . . . the Magnificent Seven???!!!!  (haha) Shortly after Dad's funeral, prior to returning to the valley, I took photographs of just about everything I could find in the cabin that might have sentimental value to one or more of us.  Irene and I returned a week or so later, to clean the cabin and I found even more things to photograph, so below is a long line of photographs.  Some of the items may be individual "gifts" that you gave to Mom or Dad - if this is the case, please let me know which ones they are so that I can properly tag them.  It was Mom and Dad's will that all gifts be given back to the sibling that gave them.  Any of the below items that are not requested by someone at this time, will remain in the cabin in Alpine.  We have plenty of room and they can stay right where they sit at the present time.  Over the years, as you visit or memories return (I know the memories will take awhile to slowly return to all you "OLD ONES" amongst us - hahaha) some of you may desire to have one or more of these items and all you need to do is ask Diane or I for it.  I want to personally thank all of you for your kindness and generosity shown after Dad's death. . . . I had heard so many horror stories of siblings that were at each others throats over their parents' personal possessions - you have all made is so easy thus far on Diane and I. . . thank you!!  Good luck and have fun viewing these items. . . I know that some items will bring back good memories and others you will scratch your head and say. . . "I don't remember that!" Anyway. . . have fun strolling down memory lane here!!

 
The first item up for grabs here is Dad and Mom's pet rabbit that lives under the back porch of the cabin. . . . . if you can catch him he's yours!!

I can't remember when this copper pot was first purchased.  I just remember seeing it on the stove and above the fireplace once in awhile.  I think Mom used it as a "humidifier" of some sort. . . . maybe my memory's fading!!  Please let me know what you guys remember about this pot.  It needs a little cleanup, but with the right chemicals it should polish up really nice.

I know you'll all be fighting over this "baby" - haha.  This is the old knife Dad used to skin the beef's we butchered out in the quanset barn.  Tip is busted off, but I found it in a drawer in the cabin.

Mom's old pie server . . . . . now girls . . . . don't all of ya jump at the same time for this one!! 

This is a treasure!!  I'm certain the younger half of our gang remembers this keyboard!  Did this hang in Dad's real estate office, or did we have it in the house for awhile.  Someone please refresh this old fart's memory. . . thank you!

After our reunion in Mexico, Dad really got into the shells!  He has several of these "custom" decorated masterpieces . . . . so put your "dibbs" in for one while they're still available! ha.  I think it was great  - they gave him something to do up in Alpine besides watering trees and reading all those investments brochures he got.  If you would like one of these let me know.  One of them is made with shells he and Mom collected in Florida and the balance are from shells from our Mexico reunion to Rocky Point.

Unverifiable, but I believe, guys, that this is THE FRYING PAN which is undeniably named "DAMN IT".   You should all remember it. ha.
Don't know when Mom bought these or started using them, but they're still around and I remember them.

Here's a second pair that I remember.  Are these newer than the first set above?

Remember this pitcher?  It also has a partial set of glasses.  There are only a handful of glasses.  They are pictured below.

The "younger" half of us should remember these green plastic cups.  These are the only two I can find in the cupboards.

Here are the 5 glasses that match the pitcher above.  Four large ones and one small one.

Here's the old syrup cup. . . at least that's what I remember it holding.  Does everyone remember this piece?

I believe this cookie jar set was in St. Johns for awhile. . . . correct me if I am wrong.  It has been in Alpine since Mom and Dad built the home there.  Still in excellent shape, probably cause it has stayed away from "little" hands for so long.

Don't know if any of you gave one of these creatures to Mom, but here's four small ones.

I don't recognize this plate??  Maybe one of you girls will.

Mom still has several bells.  She has kept them in her china hutch in Alpine for years.  If any of you gave her one, please let me know and we'll mark it accordingly.

For some reason I remember this bell - I believe it was one of her older ones.

Here's one for anyone that's a "Southwest" decor fan.  Mom probably got this one down in the valley somewhere.  Maybe Fountain Hills??

You should all remember this one!  We ALL used it!  It sits next to the Master bathroom in the Alpine home and we use it daily when we're there.  It is probably a "small" dirty clothes hamper by today's standards. . . . but this holds memories!  I will have it professionally refinished if no one has a burning desire for this one.

Here's a cowboy soap dish.  One of the legs is broken on the tub, so he's a little wobbly.  Don't remember how old this is or when Mom got it.

Any of you remember where this piece hung?  Was it in St. Johns?  I remember seeing it often.

This is an old briefcase of Dads.  I don't remember it, but maybe some of you older guys do.

Turkey toothpick holder.  Don't remember this one at all.

Here's one of 7 ice cream cups . . . . at least that's what I remember Mom using them for, that are sitting in her China hutch.

Don't know anything about this piece.  Maybe from one of the South American missionaries?

Here's a cream and sugar set - one of Mom's old pieces.  I think one of the girls ought to have these.

We found this photo in Dad's stuff.  It's a photo of the old John Henry Heap Home in St. Johns.  It was part of a calendar that someone put together in the 80's.  We'll have it professionally copied and get you all a print of it.

I remember this swan in Mom's bedroom in St. Johns.  It's older.

This wagon cookie jar is a wedding gift given to Mom and Dad from Uncle Harry and Aunt Ora.

I believe this is the old "coin holder" cup Mom had on the built in shelves behind her bedroom door in St. Johns.  I remember getting it down on Sundays and spreading all the old pennys an Indian nickels on her bed and looking at the dates on them.

Here's a treasure - Dad's old suitcase!  I believe the number on the side is related to his service in the armed forces.  I have not cross-referenced it with any of his information yet, but I will.  Mom used to hide our Christmas gifts in this and others above the living room closet by the front door in St. Johns.

Here's another one of those suitcases that were above the closet.  Let me know if you want a "classic".  Guaranteed not to have anyone mistake this baby for theirs at the airport!! ha.

Here's another treasure - one of the really old style suitcases.  Would like to know the year these were bought if anyone has that memory.  We could probably research it and find out an approximate date.

Here's a set of scriptures.  It has "H & V Heap" printed on the front.  It's the Book of Mormon, D&C, Pearl of Great Price set (no bible).

Mom must have made this one.  I don't remember it at all, so if someone does, let me know.

This was made by Etta B. Heap.  She must have given it to Mom or Dad.  I have no memories of it but if someone does, just let me know.

Wow. . . . how do we decide who gets this?  If anyone has any ideas let me know.  This is probably one of those items that we'll have to put everyones names in a hat and have a name drawn out.  This is what we'll do with this piece if no one has any objections.  If you don't really care to be in the drawing, please let me know and I'll pull your name out.

Here's Dad's old cowboy hat that he would usually wear when he went to 26 Bar or over to New Mexico to buy bulls.  That's the only times I remember him wearing it.

Did someone give this to Mom & Dad?  I have no memory of it.

Peg, did you make this for Dad?  It's a sign Dad hung up in his first real estate trailer he had in front of the elm tree in St. Johns.  Let me know if you made this for him Peg.  

I think a lot of us remember this little sign.  Let me know if you have a burning desire for this little treasure.

This piece I believe was done by Grandma Heap??  I can't remember for sure, and I don't remember it in St. Johns.  Mom must not have liked it too much cause she had it hanging way high behind the ceiling fan in the foyer of the Alpine place.  Any takers?

We will all remember this piece.  Copper bowl that Mom had in her bedroom in St. Johns.  It was one of those "catch-all" bowls for all kinds stuff.  May need to "lottery" this piece out as well.  Let me know what you all think.

This is Mom's old sewing bucket.  I don't have any memories of it, but I'm sure the girls do.

Here's another treasure, that may have to be given via the "lottery" system.  You should all recognize this piece as the tray Dad always had on top of his chest of drawers next to his bed in St. Johns while we grew up.  I rarely saw the bottom of this tray because of all the small stuff and coins that were always in the bottom of it.  It's a beautiful tray!

Well, that's it . . . . .  for now.  If I find anything else up there next summer that I think any of you might be interested in I'll post it.  Again, if no one has an immediate burning desire for some of these pieces, we'll just keep them up there and a lot of them will stay right where they're hanging or sitting now, until someone says, "I'd like to have that."

Thanks again for all your kindness and understanding.  It's so nice that there has not been any bickering or bad feelings. . . .  let's keep it that way.
